Srinagar, Jul 5 : Two advisors to Governor K Vijay Kumar and K Skandan and Chief secretary BVR Subramaniyam on Friday visited Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on traditional Pahalgam yatra route, to review arrangements for smooth conduct of the pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan reviewed yatra arrangements at transit camp set up in Srinagar.
An official spokesman said here this evening that Mr Kumar and Mr Skandan along with Subramaniyam today visited Chandanwari to review the arrangements for the smooth conduct of ongoing Yatra .
They inspected various sections including X – Ray, Scanning and enquired about various arrangements at the entry gate for smooth and hassle free movement of the Yatries. They also inspected community kitchens to assess the quality of food provided to the pilgrims and urged best quality services.
They interacted with Yatries and enquired about various facilities including healthcare and security arrangements being provided to them en route to the Holy Cave.
The Yatries expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the state government.
Later, the Advisors and the CS reviewed the security arrangements with top officials of various security agencies including J&K Police, Army, CRPF, BSF and SSB. They directed all the agencies to ensure all arrangements for the smooth conduct of Yatra 2019.
During the visit, the DDC Anantnag, Khalid Jahangir, SSP Anantnag, Camp Director SASB Chandanwari and other senior officers from district administration were also present.
Meanwhile, Mr Khan today visited Transit Camp Pantha Chowk in Srinagar to review the necessary arrangements put in place for the pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra.
The Divisional Commissioner reviewed all arrangements which include quality food in langers, storage of essential commodities, availability of Doctors along paramedical staff, medicines and ambulances, comfortable bedding, Bio-Toilets, 24x7 control room, erection of more sheds, disaster management, Traffic plan, security, magistracy and other necessary facilities for yatra pilgrims in the Transit Camp.
He directed SMC to ensure sanitation in and around the transit camp and install additional dust bins in the premises.The Divisional Commissioner directed PDD and PHE Engineers to ensure uninterrupted electricity and clean drinking water to the pilgrims of the Pathachowk Transit Camp.
The Divisional Commissioner asked concerned officers to conduct a safety audit of the camp on priority basis which has a capacity of accommodating 2000 pilgrims.
Khan also interacted with pilgrims and inquired about the facilities being provided by the administration.
On the occasion, he said that the government is committed to provide quality, round the clock and hassle-free facilities to the Pilgrims of Amarnath yatra.He reiterated that Amarnath Yatra is a national event and concerned officers should perform their duties with added zeal, zest and mutual coordination besides they shall remain alert round the clock to address any kind of issue immediately for the successful conduct of Amarnath Yatra-2019.
Government had also established two more transit camps at HMT and Zakura, in case of exigency. More than a thousand Amarnath Yatris can be accommodated in these transit camps. UNI
