Srinagar, Jul 27 : Eleven people, including nine girls, were killed when a vehicle fell into a deep gorge on historic Mughal road on Thursday.
Seven people were injured in the incident.
Official sources said a passenger tempo on way to Shopian from Poonch skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge at Lal Ghulam area in Pir-ki-Gali.
A rescue operation was immediately launched, they said, adding that while two persons died on the spot, 16 others were injured. 'The injured were immediately taken to a hospital, where nine others succumbed, taking the death toll in the accident to 11,' they added.
Among seven injured, condition of two is stated to be critical. Police have registered a case and initiated proceedings, they added. (UNI)
