Srinagar, Jun 24: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday arrested five stone pelters, who had allegedly damaged CCTV cameras installed in downtown Srinagar.A police spokesperson said that a group of stone pelters had caused extensive damage to the CCTV cameras installed at Rainawari chowk. “The accused had also inflicted grievous injuries to Station House Officer (SHO) Rainawari,” he said.
He said all the accused were arrested, adding the gang was also active in lobbying petrol bombs on Security forces and Police during the de-induction to provoke them to retaliate.
He said the accused have been identified as Owais Ahmed Dar, Adnan Mushtaq Batoo, Qazi Yawar Khalid and Kamil Javed Zehgeer. “Srinagar Police has appealed to people to expose such elements who are involved in damaging public properties and are a threat to peace and harmony in the city,” he added.
