Five CRPF personnel, including two Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), were martyred and a jawan and Station House Officer (SHO) of local police station and a girl were injured in the attack by militants yesterday afternoon. A foreign militant was also killed in the retaliatory fire by security forces.

The Governor has conveyed that his heart goes out to the departed soldiers and their families. Malik has observed that whenever successful attempts are made by the Security Forces to either conduct peaceful elections or continuous elimination of militants, their masterminds from across the border order them to carry out fidayeen attacks on Forces and yesterday’s attack in Anantnag district was also a fidayeen attack.
