Srinagar, June 7: Two Special Police Officers (SPOs), who went missing along with their service rifles on Thursday, were among four Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants killed by security forces in about 16-hour-long encounter in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.
Internet mobile service remained suspended in the district as a precautionary measure to prevent rumours since the start of operation.A police official said a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched at Panjran Lassipora in Pulwama on Thursday evening by troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF following information about the presence of militants. Four militants were killed in the operation. Bodies of all the four militants, affiliated to JeM, have been recovered. ‘The slain militants have been identified as Ashiq Ahmad and Imran Ahmad,’ the official said.
He said the other two have been identified as Shabir Ahmad and Salman Khan -- both SPOs- had gone missing along with their service rifles from District Police Line (DPL), Pulwama on Thursday. (UNI)
