New Delhi, Jun1 : Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik on Saturday said that the Election Commission will decide the date for Assembly elections.
Soon after his meeting with the new Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Governor Malik said he briefed the Home Minister about the security situation prevailing in the State and expressed the view that it was for the Election Commission to take a call on holding the assembly polls.
Jammu and Kashmir has been under Governor's rule since June 2018 when the state plunged into a political crisis after the Mehbooba Mufti-led coalition government was reduced to minority following withdrawal of support by the BJP. The term of the Governor's rule in Jammu and Kashmir ends on July 3. (UNI)
