Srinagar, May 29 : Expressing serious concerns over traffic chaos in the Valley, Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) on Wednesday said the mess on Valley roads has badly affected business activities in the Valley.
"Ahead of the Eid was the time, when the traders could do some business to eke out a living but the traffic chaos has badly affected such activities especially in the summer capital of Srinagar," KEA chairman Muhammad Yasin Khan said in a statement issued here on Wednesday.
Khan, who also heads the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF), alleged that the Traffic Police department has failed to implement a dignified traffic plan in coordination with the stakeholders especially traders. On top of that, he said traffic police personnel could be seen busy imposing challens on congested roads only to add to the congestion.
He said given the massive gridlocks, most of the markets in Srinagar and towns in other districts were giving a deserted look with regard to the footfall of shoppers, who find it impossible to reach such marketplaces.
