Srinagar, May 29 : Stressing the need for time bound completion of Srinagar-Jammu national highway, Governor Satya Pal Malik on Wednesday emphasised the need for effective steps to control frequent landslides on the only all weather road linking the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country.
An official spokesman said here this evening that National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) chairman Nagendra Nath Sinha and Additional secretary Home, Government of India (GoI) Gyanesh Kumar on Wednesday met Mr Malik at Raj Bhavan.
Mr Sinha apprised Governor about the to-date status of the Highways and road projects in the state which are being implemented by the NHAI.However, Governor stressed the need for time bound completion of the highway projects in the state. He emphasised the urgent need for effective steps to control landslides on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway, particularly on the stretch from Chanderkot to Banihal, in order to avoid inconvenience to travellers and ensure round the year connectivity in all the three regions of the state.
