Anantnag, Feb 28 : Three drug peddlers were arrested during a naka checking in south Kashmir district of Anantnag , a police spokesman said on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off about movement of drug peddlers, Jammu and Kashmir police established a naka checking at Tulkhan Bijbehara in Anantnag. During the checking, three drug peddlers were arrested and 72 bottles of Codeine were recovered from their possession.
He said the drug peddlers, identified as Showkat Ahmad, resident of Tulkhan Bijbehara and Mohammad Yousuf, were arrested. FIR under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Bijbehara.
The spokesman said community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
''Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep your society free from the scourge of drug menace,'' he said. (UNI)
