Srinagar, Feb 10: Militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed the responsibility of a grenade attack that left seven security force personnel and four civilians injured in Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the summer capital, Srinagar on Sunday evening.

A JeM spokesperson told local media that the attack was carried out by members of the militant outfit. “JeM’s Afzal Guru squad carried out the attack in which seven security force personnel were injured,” he added.

Militants lobbed a hand grenade on Sunday evening at a security force patrol party near Paladium in Lal Chowk, resulting in injuries to three CRPF, four policemen and four civilians, including a woman.

Life returned to normal in Kashmir valley on Sunday after remaining paralysed for a day due to strike, called by separatists on the sixth death anniversary of the Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, who was hanged and later buried in Delhi’s Tihar jail on February 9, 2013. (UNI)
