Baramulla, Feb 2 : The Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday busted a module of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), responsible for grenade attacks in this north Kashmir district.
According to a Police Spokesperson, on January 25 evening, unknown militants hurled a hand grenade towards a CRPF camp at Sopore. However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded outside the camp, without causing any damage.
He said a case under Section 307 of RPC and other relevant sections was registered in police station Sopore and investigation taken up.
During the course of investigation, three individuals, identified as Ghulam Qadir Rather, Owais Khalid Dar and Aijaz Ajamd Khan, were detained by police, on the basis of suspicion. However, during their questioning, they confessed their involvement in the attack.
They further revealed that they were working with JeM and the outfit provided them two grenades, to attack the security forces.
He said they have been formally arrested in the case. Further investigation is going on and more arrests are expected, he added. (UNI)
