Srinagar, Nov 29 : The chilly weather conditions have intensified as the night temperature dipped below freezing point across Kashmir valley due to dry weather and ice cold winds.
Meanwhile, people continued to shiver in twin border towns of Leh and Kargil, which were the two coldest places in the region.
A Met department spokesperson told UNI that weather will remain dry during the next about a week in the state, which could result in further dip in the night temperature though the day temperature is expected to improve.
The border town of Leh was the coldest place in the region at minus 8.1 degree followed by neighbouring Kargil, where the mercury settled at minus 7.4 degree.
The spokesperson said that skies will be partly cloudy during the next 24 hours in Leh, where the minimum temperatures will be around 11 degree and minus 9 degree, respectively.
After witnessing a dip of about 3 degree in the night temperature, people in the summer capital, Srinagar, woke up to a chilly and foggy Thursday morning.
