Normal life remains crippled in parts of Kulgam

Srinagar, Oct 4: Normal life remained crippled for the sixth day on Thursday in parts of south Kashmir district of Kulgam against the establishments of a new Army camp at a village.

Even though there was no strike called by any separatist organisation, shops and business establishments were closed and traffic was off the roads in many parts of Kulgam, including Redwani, Khudwani, Hawoora, Mishpoora, Qaimoh and other adjoining areas for the sixth successive day.

The local villagers said the Army has established a camp in village Redwani. “The camp has been established without any proper permission from district administration,” they said.

They said there are at least four camps within the radius of 6 km at Khudwani, Rampora, Frisal and now one has been set up at Redwani.

“There has been several clashes between forces and youth since the camp has been established at Redwani,” they said, adding the shutdown will continue till the time the camp was not removed from the area. (UNI)
