Srinagar, Sep 28: Train service remained suspended for the second day on Friday for security reasons in the Kashmir valley, where separatists have called for a general strike against the killing of a youth in security force action during Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the down town Srinagar yesterday.
Train service was suspended yesterday in the valley following three encounters in Badgam, Noorbagh Srinagar and Anantnag during which three militants, a soldier and a civilian were killed. We have received a fresh advisory from police last evening not to resume train service in the valley, a senior railway official told UNI this morning.
We are acting on the advice of local administration, including police as security and safety of passengers besides railway officials and property was important. In the past during protests and strike railway suffered heavy damage in stone pelting and other violent incidents, he said.UNI
