Omar urges Punjab CM to ensure security of Kashmiri students

Srinagar, Sep 26: Reacting to reports that a Kashmiri students was attacked at a university in Mohali, National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah urged Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to intervene and take necessary steps to ensure security of the students.

Abdullah also requested the Punjab CM to reassure the students, who have left their home state of J&K to study in Adesh and other institutes in Mohali.

“I request Punjab CM @capt_amarinder Sahib to kindly look in to this matter urgently & take the necessary steps to reassure the students who have left their home state of J&K to study in Adesh & other institutes in Mohali,” Abdullah, who is the former chief minister of the state, wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.

The NC VP was reacting to a tweet by student activist Shehla Rashid which read, “Kashmiri student Masroor Ahmed who is a fresher at Adesh Institute, Mohali was attacked while fetching water. Students describe it as attempt to murder and have gone on strike. (UNI)
