Rebel PDP MLAs say revolt is against nepotism

Claiming that New Delhi has nothing to do with the revolt within Peoples Democratic Party, rebel PDP legislators said they have raised their voice against party president Mehbooba Mufti and her aids for orchestrating nepotism in the party.

In the press conference on Friday, five rebel PDP legislators under the leadership of Javaid Hassan Beg MLA of Baramullah constituency accused the party president Mehbooba Mufti for the crisis inside the PDP . "She (Mehbooba Mufti) has tried to give an impression that the institution is up for sale that any one can buy them. She has also tried to label us that we are dancing to someone's tunes. This is like putting us before the lynch mob, this can put our families and workers at risk," Javaid Hassan Beg said.

Beg was accompanied by Imran Ansari MLA of Pattan constituency, Abdul Majid Padder MLA of Norabad constituency and two MLCs at the press conference. They said that Mehbooba’s comment that ‘New Delhi was trying to break PDP to form a government in the state’ has put their lives in danger as it implies that they were colluding with the Centre.

The five rebel legislators further said that they are still part of the PDP and the people, who are orchestrating nepotism, will have to go. UNI
