Thousands gathered in largest protest across US to raise their voices for 'Black lives Matter'

Washington June 7 : Amid George Floyd's death in Minneapolis,Thousands of protesters gathered across the US to show their agitation against the incident that took place on May 25. Protesters chanting "Black Lives Matter" and "George Floyd" converged on the United States capital on Saturday. The demonstrators appeared to come from varied racial and ethnic backgrounds, young and old, wearing mandatory masks because of the coronavirus pandemic. Many had children in tow.

Security forces blocked any approach of the protesters to the White House. Crowds also protested in New York, Chicago and San Francisco. Floyd George , an unarmed black man, died in police custody in Minneapolis on 25 May. Video showed a white police officer, Derek Chauvin, kneeling on Mr Floyd's neck for almost nine minutes while he is pinned to the floor. Mr Chauvin has been dismissed and charged with murder. Three other officers who were on the scene have also been sacked and charged with aiding and abetting BBC reported. (UNI)
