Washington, June 2 : New York City authorities have decided to extend the ongoing curfew to Wednesday morning, Mayor Bill de Blasio's office announced early on Tuesday.
The city has witnessed violent protests over the death of an African-American man in police custody on May 25 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The curfew was initially imposed at 1100 pm local time on Monday and to last till 0500 am on Tuesday. The curfew now would last till 5 AM on Wednesday, a US media report said.
Mayor de Blasio also said that the local police would deploy additional personnel. Anti-racism and police brutality turned into a major law and order problem as riots erupted across several US cities coupled with arson and widespread looting. (UNI)
