Islamabad, Jun 2 : Number of COVID-19 cases in Pakistan reached 77,837 on Tuesday with the southern state of Sindh accounting for the maximum number of cases at 31,086.
Sindh reported as many as 1,439 fresh cases in the past 24 hours. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah confirmed 23 new deaths and 953 recoveries during the same duration. Sindh’s death toll has now climbed to 526, while 15,538 patients have recovered till date. Karachi, the capital of the province seems to have emerged as the hotbed for infections as 1,035 out of the 1439 new cases were registered there.
The Express Tribune reported that the state of Punjab currently has 27,850 cases, while KhyberPakhtunkhwa has 10,485, Balochistan 4,514, 738 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 2,893 in Islamabad and 271 in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir. The dreaded virus has claimed 1,644 lives so far in the south Asian nation while 27,110 patients have recovered till date. (UNI)
