Trump offers to mediate between India and China

Washington, May 27 : US President Donanld Trump on Wednesday offered to mediate between India and China to end tense face off the two countries are currently having at the border. In a Twitter message, he said, "We have informed both India and China that the United States is ready, willing and able to mediate or arbitrate their now raging border dispute. Thank you!"

Indian and Chinese troops are currently locked in an eyeball-to-eyeball confrontation in sensitive areas like Demchok, Pangong Tso, Galwan Valley and Daulat Beg Oldie of eastern Ladakh. Both the armies are said to have increased troop presence at the border.

Relations between the two armies soared as 250 Chinese and Indian soldiers were engaged in a violent face-off on the evening of May 5 in eastern Ladakh, clashes continued the following day when the two sides agreed to "disengage" following a meeting at the level of local commanders.

A similar incident took place on May 9 near Naku La Pass in Sikkim when nearly 150 Indian and Chinese military personnel physically assaulted each other. About 10 soldiers from both sides are reported to have sustained injuries. (UNI)
