Dhaka, May 24 : Bangladesh recorded 28 new COVID-19 fatalities on Sunday, the highest daily death toll since the pandemic began in the country on March 8.
The rise in deaths comes after the country reported 24 new COVID-19 fatalities on Friday. Professor Nasima Sultana, a senior health ministry official, told an online media briefing in Dhaka that "28 COVID-19 deaths were confirmed in a 24-hour period,taking the total number of fatalities in the country since March 18 to 480."
According to the official, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased to 33,610, with the daily rise of 1,532 cases reported in the last 24 hours as of 8:00 am (local time) on Sunday. According to the official, 8,908 samples were tested in the last 24 hours in labs across Bangladesh. (UNI)
