Dhaka, May 11: Bangladesh has registered a record 887 fresh Coronavirus cases and 14 more deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the count to 14,657 and fatalities to 228. Additional Director General (administration) Nasima Sultana told a virtual media briefing at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) that a total of 5,738 samples were tested at 36 authorised laboratories across the country during the period. She further informed that recovery count rose to 2650 in the last 24 hours after 236 patients were discharged from hospitals. Bangladesh confirmed the first coronavirus death on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
Among the total infections, 18.1 per cent patients have recovered while 1.5 per cent died, the heath official said. (UNI)
