Afghanistan records 171 new COVID-19 cases

Kabul, May 7 : A total of 171 more COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Afghanistan over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of patients infected with the disease to 3,563 in the country, spokesman for the Public Health Ministry Wahidullah Mayar said Thursday.

Two patients died due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the number of total deaths to 106. The 117 new coronavirus cases were reported in Kabul (34), Herat (45), Kandahar (16), Paktia (18), Ghazni (10), Badghis (15), Logar (2), Bamiyan (13), Panjshir (3), Wardak (9), Zabul (2), Badakhshan (2) and Khost (1), according to a report by Tolo News. According to Mayar, eight more patients have been discharged from hospital after recovery, bringing the number of recovered patients in the country to 468. The total number of reported recoveries in the country is 468, and total deaths is 106. So far, 14,389 people have been tested, according to the ministry. (UNI)
