Dhaka, May 3 : Bangladesh photojournalist and the editor of Daily Pokkhokal Shafiqul Islam Kajol, who had been missing since March, has been detained by the members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Benapole of Jashore.
They handed him over to Benapole Port Police Station in the wee hours of Sunday after filing a case against him on charge of entering Bangladesh illegally.
Confirming the matter to UNI, Roghunathpur BGB Camp Commander Habilder Ashek Ali said that they detained Kajol at a field in Sadipur. Mamun Khan, officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station, told that BGB handed Kajol over to the police station around 3:30am and he will be produced before a court in Jashore. However, Kajol’s wife Julia Ferdousi Noyon also confirmed the matter of detention.
Julia said her husband has been rescued from Benapole and she talked with him over the phone. Shafiqul Islam Kajol went missing on March 10. He was last seen at Paribagh near Hatirpool at about 6:45pm that day. (UNI)
