COVID-19: Germany's tally reaches 162,496

Berlin, May 3: The number of positive Novel Coronavirus cases in Germany has reached 162,496 since the start of the pandemic as 793 new cases were registered over the past 24 hours, the Robert Koch Institute confirmed on Sunday. According to the institute, the death toll in the nation has risen to 6,649 as 74 more fatalities were registered over the past 24 hours.

More than 130,000 patients have recovered, since the beginning of the outbreak. Saturday's data is an improvement over the day before when 945 new cases and 94 fatalities were registered, Sputnik reported. Bavaria continues to be the worst-affected state, having 42,792 cases followed by North Rhine Westphalia, which has 33,428 cases and Baden-Wurttemberg comes in third with 32,291 cases. The capital city of Berlin has registered 5,976 cases so far. (UNI)
