COVID-19: Germany registers 2,458 new cases, 184 in past 24 hours

Berlin, Apr 19: The number of confirmed Novel Coronavirus cases in Germany has reached 139,897 and the death toll has risen to 4,294, the Robert Koch Institute said on Sunday. According to the institute, 2,458 new cases were registered in the past 24 hours, whereas 184 people passed away during the same duration.

These latest statistics are encouraging as they show a noticeable decrease from the figures from the day before, when 3,609 new cases were reported and 242 people lost their lives.

The southern state of Bavaria remains worst-affected with 37,407 cases, while North Rhine-Westphalia has 28,471 cases and Baden-Wurttemberg is the third most affected state with 27,883 cases. The capital city of Berlin currently has 5,159 cases. (UNI)
