Tehran, Apr 17: Iran's Defence Minister Brig Gen Amir Hatami on Friday labelled the presence of United States military in the Persian Gulf as illegal and called it detrimental to the regional security.
"The illegal and aggressive presence of Americans, who came to our borders from another part of the world, destabilizes the security in the Persian Gulf," Sputnik quoted Hatami as saying. On April 15 the US Central Command had claimed that eleven Iranian Revolution Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) vessels conducted "dangerous and harassing" maneuvers near US warships in the Persian Gulf.
Though the IRGCN vessels reportedly moved away after the American warships made bridge-to-bridge radio queries.(UNI)
