Russia reported 4,069 new coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours — a record rise in new infections, reported Reuters, citing the Interfax news agency.
That brings total cases in Russia to 32,007, according to the report.
Nearly 200 people have died from the virus in the country.
Meanwhile, Moscow's health department warned on Tuesday that the city could face a shortage of hospital beds in the next two to three weeks and that it will be converting an additional 24 hospitals to treat COVID-19 patients, bringing the number of beds to 21,000.
Moscow residents are not permitted to leave their residences until May 1, except to carry out essential errands and seek essential services, such as grocery shopping and health services.
