Kiev, Apr 16: This capital city will receive at least 19 captive citizens as part of a prisoner swap with rebel fighters in the non-government-controlled areas of Donetsk and Luhansk, Ukraine said on Thursday.
The Ukrainians, upon returning, will be sent to mandatory quarantine, the Ukrainian president's office said on it's Facebook page. The last exchange of detainees took place in the separatist region of Donbass at the end of 2019, following the agreements reached on December 9 in Paris, at a leaders meeting of the Norman Four member countries, namely Ukraine, Germany, Russia and France.
During the exchange, Kiev received 76 captives and transferred 124 people to Donetsk and Luhansk. The participants in the six-year conflict in Donbass have also expressed their intention to continue the prisoner swap. (UNI)
