In all 325 districts in India have no cases of COVID19, the Health Ministry announced on Thursday. In its routine briefing on coronavirus, Mr. Lav Agrawal, joint secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, said that Health Minister and World Health Organisation (WHO) officials also discussed plans to implement the containment zones in order to arrest the spread of coronavirus.

'Health Minister and Minister of State (MoS), Health held a video conference yesterday, with health functionaries and field officers of World Health Organisation, in which micro-plan for clusters and outbreak containment of COVID-19 at district-level was discussed,' M. Agrawal said.

He said that an action plan has been prepared on strengthening the ongoing surveillance utilizing the services of World Health Organisation’s (WHO) national polio surveillance network team.

Commenting on the much talked about coronavirus testing methodology, Dr Raman R Gangakhedkar, of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that in India, one positive case is detected after conducting tests on 24 individuals. 'In Japan, to find one positive case, 11.7 persons are tested. In Italy that number is 6.7, in the US it's 5.3, in the UK it's 3.4. Here in India, we do 24 tests for one positive case.'

According to the figures available on the Health Ministry website, India has, so far, recorded 10477 active cases of the novel coronavirus. While 1488 people have been discharged 414 deaths were recorded as of 8 am on Thursday.

On Tuesday, PM Narendra Modi extended the lockdown to May 3. On Wednesday, the Home Ministry issued detailed guidelines for the lockdown period.
