New Delhi, Apr 11: National Commission for Women (NCW) has sought an inquiry into the death of full-term pregnant woman amid the lockdown after being turned away by various hospitals in Maharashtra.
The nine-month pregnant woman, believed to be infected with Coronavirus, was forced to travel more than 70 km seeking medical help. According to a media report, the 27-year-old woman was turned away from different hospitals between Nalasopara and Mumbai as she complained of not being able to breathe.
Terming the incident as "very unfortunate", the NCW has sought an inquiry into the matter."A 9-month pregnant woman had to undergo such trauma in Maharashtra and passed away due to suspect for COVID-19 and travelling for over 70 km to reach hospitals and for medical attention, is a very unfortunate incident. The NCW seeks inquiry into the matter," a tweet said. (UNI)
