COVID-19: UAE records 45 new cases, highest single-day number

Dubai: The UAE on Monday reported 45 new positive cases of coronavirus, the highest single-day number since the start of the outbreak.

With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases has gone up to 198, according to the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP).

One of the infected cases was outside the country and didn’t follow home quarantine, infecting 17 people of his relatives and colleagues through direct contact, said Dr. Farida Al Hosani, the ministry’s official spokesperson for the health sector in a press briefing.

Today’s cases belong to different nationalities, including one person from each of Philippines, Iraq, Tunisia, Syria, Kuwait, Italy, Peru, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Somalia, Britain, Sudan, Egypt, Ireland, Russia, Montenegro, France, Poland. They also include two people from Canada, three from Bangladesh, four from each of Pakistan and the US, in addition to seven Emiratis 7 and seven Indians.

The entire detected are in stable health condition and receiving necessary health care, said Dr. Al Hosani.

Meanwhile, the ministry’s spokesperson also announced three more recoveries, bringing the total number of cured patients to 41 cases. They include two Nepalese and an Iranian.
