Washington, Mar 23: Disgraced Hollywood movie producer Harvey Weinstein, who is currently serving 23-year sentence for sexual assault and rape, was on Monday tested positive of the deadly coronavirus.
He is now in isolation, according to Michael Powers, president of the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association.
Weinstein, once one of Hollywood’s most powerful and influential men, was found guilty on February 24 by a Manhattan jury for sexually assaulting a former production assistant and raping a former aspiring actress.
His conviction was hailed as a victory for the #MeToo movement against sexual misconduct by powerful men.
More than 100 women, including famous actresses, have accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct stretching back decades. Weinstein has denied the allegations of sexual misconduct, saying any sex was consensual.
His defense is expected to file an appeal in July. (UNI)
