Washington, Feb 12 : United States President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that he is looking forward to his visit to India later this month and indicated towards a possible trade deal. His visit is scheduled for Feb 24-25. "I look forward to going to India," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.
'President Trump will be on a two day visit to India, during which time he will be visiting Prime Minister Modi's home state Gujarat and the capital New Delhi,' said the White House. When asked will he be signing any trade deal with India, Trump said that he certainly will do so, if "we can make the right deal." Trump will be accompanied by First Lady Melenia Trump in his visit to India.
Trump is the fourth consecutive American president to visit India in the past two decades, as India-US relations have moved from strength to strength at various levels, from business, to defence, in the years after the end of the Cold War in 1991. Trump who enjoys a close relationship with Prime Minister Modi described him as "He [Prime Minister Modi] is a friend of mine. He is a great gentleman,". (UNI)
