Barely hours ahead of his three-day visit to India to attend the sixth edition of the Indian Ocean Dialogue, the Bangladesh Foreign Minister, Mr. AK Abdul Momen, sparked a controversy by commenting on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and said ' Let them (India) fight among themselves'.
'They (India) have many problems within their country. Let them fight among themselves. That does not bother us. As a friendly country, we hope that India will not do something that affects our friendly relationship,' Bangladeshi media quoted Mr. Momen as saying.
Mr. Momen is expected to meet the External Affairs Minister, Mr. S Jaishankar, at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Saturday. He will also address a joint-ministerial session with the Indonesian Foreign Minister, Mr. Retno Marsudi, on December 13 in Mr. Jaishankar’s presence.
