Seoul, Nov 27: South Korean military fired warning shots toward a North Korean merchant ship that violated their sea border on Wednesday, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said.
The North Korean vessel, with engine trouble, was detected crossing the sea boundary at around 0640 hrs local time, the official said.
The South Korean military issued a warning and fired shots to drive the ship away.
It is for second time that South Korea has fired warning shots to drive back a North Korean ship in the area since President Moon Jae-in took office in 2017.
Earlier, the first incident happened in September. (UNI)
