Colombo, Nov 21 : The Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar on Thursday acquitted Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in a misappropriation case concerning the D A Rajapaksa memorial museum.
A three-judge bench ordered the release of President Gotabaya, who was accused of misappropriating Government funds for the construction of the museum when he was defence secretary, Daily News reported.
The Special High Court ordered to clear the defendant of all charges over the case as he enjoys the Presidential immunity.
It also ordered to release President Rajapaksa's passport.
Mr Rajapaksa, along with six others, had been accused of misappropriating state funds worth Rs 33.9 million in the construction of the museum. (UNI)
