Washington, Nov 20: United States President Donald Trump has ordered the deployment of additional troops in the Middle East to dampen alleged threat from Iran and bolster regional defensive capabilities.
On Tuesday, the US President told the Congress in a letter that Iran continues to pose a threat in the region through various activities, including the attack on oil and natural gas facilities. Additional forces ordered for deployment in Saudi Arabia include radar and missile systems, an air expeditionary wing and two fighter squadrons which will take the total number of US armed forces in region to 3,000.
The first of these additional forces have arrived and the remaining forces will arrive in the coming weeks. (UNI)
