Manila, Oct 31 : At least three people were killed and eight others injured after a 6.5 magnitude quake followed by four tremors shook the Philippines' southern Mindanao Island.
The temblor struck the island at 01:11 GMT, local media reports said.
The US Geological Survey said the epicentre of the quake was near Manila town. Its depth was 10 kilometres. The first tremor was followed by four more tremors in 22 minutes, Philippine Daily Inquirer newspaper reported.
According to the paper, building had collapsed in Davao due to the quake, leaving a number of residents trapped inside. A search and rescue operation is underway. Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte ordered the suspension of all classes in public and private schools, as well as work in government offices for today. (UNI)
