Dhaka, Oct 30: Foreign Minister A K Abdul Momen has invited the Greek businesses to invest in Bangladesh for win-win scenario.
Dr Momen, who is on a one-day official visit to Greece, made this call when he attended a business talk titled 'Bangladesh: Greece, Business Opportunities' hosted by the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), in collaboration with Bangladesh Embassy in Athens yesterday.
In the talk, while addressing the Greek business community, Foreign Minister Dr Momen apprised them of the prevailing business friendly environment in Bangladesh and invited them to visit Bangladesh and explore the opportunities that are being offered by Bangladesh.
Dr Momen flagged the attractive investment package, infrastructure and the political stability in Bangladesh as some of the key points to consider for taking investment decision. The Foreign Minister pointed out that with the investment packages offered by Bangladesh, investors can expect to make profits, and at the same time creating employment opportunities in Bangladesh, thus have the win-win scenario.
He viewed that Greek businesses can comfortably build partnerships with their Bangladeshi counterparts. Foreign Minister also suggested that Greek importers may explore the options of importing state of art quality Bangladesh products which are so far not known to Greek consumers. Dr Momen sought investment, either direct or in the form of joint ventures from Greece with focus in the areas of tourism, shipping, hospitality industry, renewable energy, waste management etc.
The first ever business seminar on Bangladesh in Athens was a full-house event held at the head office of ACCI, with participation from various business sectors of Greece. Foreign Minister Dr Momen answered several questions about investment regime of Bangladesh from interested Greek business people. President of the ACCI Constantine Michalos, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Greece Md. Jashim Uddin and Member of the Board of Directors of the Enterprise Greece Dimitrios Kourkoulas spoke at the seminar, and highlighted the reasons for strongly considering Bangladesh at the next investment destination.
