Washington, Sep 16 : United States President Donald Trump tweeted on Monday that the US was the top energy producer and did not need "Middle Eastern Oil" just as a weekend attack halved Saudi oil output.
The Saturday drone attack on Saudi Aramco facilities halted some 5.7 million barrels per day of output, or about 5 per cent of the global daily oil production."Because we have done so well with Energy over the last few years (thank you, Mr President!), we are a net Energy Exporter, & now the Number One Energy Producer in the World. We don’t need Middle Eastern Oil & Gas, & in fact have very few tankers there, but will help our Allies!" Trump tweeted.
Early on Saturday, Saudi Aramco's Abqaiq plant and its Khurais oil field were attacked, leading to fires and an output reduction of 5.7 million barrels of crude oil per day, which is about half of Saudi Arabia’s total daily production. The Houthi rebel movement in Yemen has claimed responsibility for the drone attacks.
Though the Energy Minister of world's biggest oil supplier Prince Abdulaziz on Sunday announced to use their vast oil reserves to offset disruption to production, the world is staring at a price flare-up.(UNI)
