Karachi, Sep 16 : Several workers were trapped in a tire production factory after it caught fire on Monday in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi, police and rescuers said.
Chinese news agency Xinhua quoted local police telling media that the fire broke out inside the factory and later it spread to other areas of the factory in Qaida Abad area of Karachi.
Rescue teams were trying to put out the fire and rescuing the workers trapped in a couple of rooms of the factory. Personnel from Edhi, a private rescue service, said that it was third-degree fire and they were facing problems to extinguish it and rescue those trapped.
According to local media reports, the fire engulfed thousands of freshly produced tires and a big section of the factory. The cause of the fire was not known yet. The police said an investigation would start once the fire was completely put out. UNI
