Tokyo, Sep 11: Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Wednesday drafted new foreign and defense ministers and promoted popular young politician Shinjiro Koizumi into his cabinet.
Telegenic Koizumi, the 38-year-old son of much-loved former premier Junichiro Koizumi, was appointed as environment minister, public broadcaster NHK said.
Mr Abe kept his core team of Finance Minister Taro Aso and Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga unchanged.
Mr Shinjiro Koizumi is the third-youngest minister appointed to the Cabinet in Japan since the end of World War II.
Mr Abe is set to become Japan’s longest-serving prime minister in November. (UNI)
