Snap elections in UK cannot be held before Oct 31: Opposition

Agency News

London, Sep 6: Intensifying the protest against Prime Minister Boris Johnson's plan to conduct snap elections, the opposition parties on Friday asserted that they do not want the elections to take place before the Brexit deadline date of October 31.

On Wednesday, the parliament rejected Johnson's call for an election to be held on October 15.

"My understanding here is that whenever a general election is enabled, the polling date has to be after 31 October," Plaid Cymru's leader in parliament, Liz Saville Roberts, told Sky News. (UNI)
