Mexico City, Aug 28: At least 23 people were killed and another 13 severely injured in a fire at a night club in the Mexican state of Veracruz.
The incident took place on Tuesday night in Coatzacoalcos, a coastal city in the eastern state of Veracruz after the assailants started a fire that ripped through the bar. Local media quoted the attorney general’s office to say that eight of the dead were women and 15 were men.
The governor of Veracruz, Cuitláhuac García said in a tweet that criminal groups will not be tolerated and vowed punishment for anyone found to be involved.
'In Veracruz, criminal gangs are no longer tolerated', Garcia wrote on Twitter, adding that police, the armed forces and newly formed National Guard are searching for the attackers. (UNI)
