Beijing, Aug 27 : Stating that people's involvement is crucial to the success of 'water related projects' especially in the context of saving water and preserving the ecology, a senior Chinese official has said that the work done in India on this in Namami Gange is worth emulating.

"We appreciate that the Indian government has put a lot of effort in forming a mechanism and mobilizing the entire society including the religious leaders to protect the river Ganges. This is a very good example," Dr Y U Xingjun of Chinese government's International Cooperation and science of Technology in Ministry of Water Resources told a visiting group of Indian journalists here.

Similarly, he said the Chinese government ought to mobilise people at the mass level for successful campaign in saving water and maintaining ecological balance.
He said the Chinese government is not viewing water related crisis in isolation.
Dr Xingjun said it is true that rivers are polluted and are some are heavily polluted"; but the Chinese government is taking all measures and thus overall perspective is taken before taking any long-term steps on development. (UNI)
