Pakistan Minister demands removal of Priyanka as Goodwill Ambassador

Pakistan's Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari demanded the United Nations (UN) to remove actress Priyanka Chopra as their Goodwill Ambassador.

Shireen Mazari raised her demand through a letter. "Ms Chopra has publicly endorsed Indian government position on Kashmir and also supported the nuclear threat issued to Pakistan by the Indian Defence Minister. All this goes completely against the principles of peace and goodwill that Ms Chopra is supposed to uphold as an UN Goodwill Ambassador for Peace, (sic)" Mazari wrote in the letter.

The demand of Shireen Mazari was close on the heels of similar demand raised by Pakistani actress Armeena Khan few days back. The entire controversy against Priyanka began from Los Angeles where during a beauty festival in Los Angeles, a Pakistani-American Ayesha Malik called Priyanka Chopra as ‘hypocrite’ for supporting Balakot attack by India against Pakistan. Soon after the Balakot attack, Priyanka Chopra had supported Indian Army through a tweet.

While the bollywood actor was talking on the festival about her humanitarian activities as a Goodwill ambassador for UN, Ayesha Malik showered her anger on Priyanka. Now Pakistan media also took up the issue to make Priyanka Chopra a scape goat. Experts say that the Pakistan Minister’s new move against Priyanka Chopra is part of Pakistan’s political agenda against Modi government’s move to repeal Article 370 which ends special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
