While China has taken Pakistan line at UN, Russia has decided to back India on Kashmir issue.
After continuous pressure from China, UN Security Council had decided to conduct closed-door meet on Kashmir. The issue is going to discuss in United Nations on Friday.
But, Russia, which is India's traditional partner, has been trying to discourage any discussion in the Security Council on the issue. Russia has made it clear that the matter is bilateral in nature and UN has no role in it. It is learnt that PM Modi will be engaged in dialogue with Russia during Vladivostok for Eastern Economic Forum and annual summit during September 4-6.
"The Russian side emphasized the need for de-escalation of tensions, and that there is no alternative to resolve differences between Pakistan and India except bilaterally through political and diplomatic means. Representative of Russia to the UN adheres to this consistent position," Russia had said in a statement in Moscow few days back.
