Kabul, Aug 09, 2019: The Taliban has slammed Pakistan for linking developments in Kashmir to Afghanistan. According to a news agency , a Taliban spokesperson, Mr. Zabihullah Mujahed, has urged that Afghanistan should not be turned into the 'theatre of competition between other countries'.
'Linking the issue of Kashmir with that of Afghanistan by some parties will not aid in improving the crisis at hand because the issue of Afghanistan is not related nor should Afghanistan be turned into a theatre of competition between other countries,' Mujahed said.
He appealed to India and Pakistan 'to refrain from taking steps that could pave the way for violence and complications in the region'. Taliban's response to the situation came after the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president, Mr. Shehbaz Sharif, compared the situation in Kashmir and Afghanistan and said, 'What kind of a deal is this that the Afghans enjoy and celebrate peace in Kabul, but in Kashmir, blood is shed? No, this is not acceptable for us.'
In a bid to salvage the situation, the Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul said that Kashmir will not hamper ongoing peace efforts with Afghanistan.
