Damascus, Aug 1 : Israel on Thursday fired a missile on a Syrian military site in the south, causing damages only, state news agency SANA reported. The Israeli missile targeted the Syrian site in the town of Braiqa in the western countryside of Quneitra Province, said the report. The last Israeli attack was reported on July 23, when the Israel fired missiles on the Tal al-Harrah hill in the western countryside of the southern Syrian province of Daraa.

The Syrian government has repeatedly charged that Israel supports the terror groups in Syria and its repeated strikes are nothing but a way to lift the rebels' morale.Israel has conducted hundreds of airstrikes in Syria throughout the eight-year conflict, most of them against what it says the targets of Iranian-backed militia groups such as the Hezbollah.

Israel says it is determined to prevent Iran from entrenching itself militarily in Syria, where Teheran backs President Bashar al-Assad. UNI
